Hello. I heard the trains were not running because of the heavy rains last year. Does anyone have a good recommendation of how to travel from the US to get to SJPP?
thank you!

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
One option, fly into Biarritz (BIQ) via Paris (CDG). Flight to Biarritz usually originates from Orly which is a domestic airport. You can take bus from CDG to transfer to Orly.

From Biarritz you could take a short (1hr) train to sjpp. There are also buses.

Transport luggage-passengers.

Luggage from SJPP to Roncevalles
There are a number of threads already on this Forum dedicated to this question with very detailed transportation options.
So much depends on where you are flying from and the time of day you arrive in Paris, if that is where you chose to fly to; flying to Bilbao, Madrid and Pamplona are all equally good options, as is Dublin to Biarritz.
Please be aware the bus service between CDG and Orly can take up to 3 or 4 hours if it peak traffic time in Paris.
The transportion from Bayonne to SJPdP is currently by train to Cambo les Bains and then a bus to SJPdP, you can look up the schedule on the SNCF rail site. It is all provided to you by the single ticket that you buy at the train station and is timed to get you to SJPdP in about an hour.

Do remember you will probably want to return home! Do you really want to fly/bus/train back to Paris from SdC? What's another thousand miles for a pilgrim? Go to a professional travel agent, in off season they can often arrange a flight-US to Madrid to Pamplona and return SdC to Madrid home as direct flights saving money, time, and those lovely airport experiences. Pamplona to Roncesvalles by bus and on to SJPP by taxi. Easier than it sounds. CdG in Paris is a huge place and it can often take an hour plus to get between flights. Madrid is smaller and SdC is best, a small user friendly airport, not too many flights, easily accessible, and quiet. You can also have a lovely night in Pamplona -a sweet town - on the way in, I believe Iberia does still offer a hotel discount for those flying with them.

Hi Mona - as Biarritzdon mentioned above, at present the train between Bayonne and SJPP only goes as far as Cambo-les-Bains, then you have to change to a replacement bus that will take you all the way to SJPP. According to the timetable, this will be the situation until at least July this year. Here's a link for the timetable for the Bayonne-SJPP line on the TER Aquitaine website: http://cdn.ter.sncf.com/medias/PDF/aquitaine/62-AFFICHE-15_02_03_2015_tcm50-35352_tcm50-9053.pdf
