Biking through meseta

I had read one of the blogs that someone rented a bike to go through the messeta. I thought of this as an option for my wife and I if we get behind schedule when we get to that point in the Camino. Any tips on this as to where you would pick it up and drop off and cost?

I would imagine pick up at Burgos and drop off at Leon. Its pretty flat inbetween and they are both big cities, in terms of having bike hire businesses. The small villages don't have them.
There is really only one big hill after Castrojerez, and after that pretty flat until Leon.

You can have a bike delivered to an albergue or pension and pick it up, You have to have reservations at an albergue to pick up and drop off your bike. Bicigrinos has bikes which are replaced every year. We used bikeiberia and I don NOT recommend them. The bikes were seven years old, they did not respond when the bikes arrived with many problems and they cost as much as buying a bike in St. Jean Pied de Port.

Humbertico, I did what you're describing last year. Walked from SJPdP to Burgos, cycled to Leon, and then continued on foot to Santiago. Instead of 8-9 days crossing this meseta, it took 3 (and it would have been 2 but for a rainstorm that stopped me in Sahagun)

You've many options, but I recommend Velobur in Burgos. I forget the owner's name, but he took great care of me. Set me up with solid bike, rack, saddle bags, lock, helmet, bungee cables and a bike shop/drop off point in Leon-- and it cost less than the extra nights food and lodging I'd have spent walking.
