Booking Accommodations Ahead?

Hello,

Our itinerary is coming together a little more each day. We will begin our walk in Ponferrada, arriving there by train on April 28th, staying the night and starting out the morning of April 29th. We are still unsure of our daily mileage, thus, unsure of which town we will stay in each night.

How important or necessary is it to book accommodations ahead of time since we are unsure of our daily mileage?

Thank you for your responses.

A guide to speaking Spanish on the Camino - enrich your pilgrim experience.
I think your main concern would be the first weekend. 1 May is a big national holiday on a Sunday this year, so I would expect to see lots of Spaniards taking a long weekend vacation. After that ask your host for a recommendation for the following night and help in calling ahead.
