Booking Train from Bayonne to SJPDP

Greetings fellow Periginos.
I will be arriving into Bayonne late on the 20th of May and hoping to catch the last train to St Jean pied de port. I was wondering if it's necessary to pre-book a seat on the train...

You cannot reserve a seat on the TER train to SJPDP. You could buy a ticket in advance online if you like but that does not include a seat reservation
Thanks, that's good to know. I was concerned that the train might be full if I hadn't a ticket in advance. But it seems you can just turn up and buy the ticket then and there. I don't mind standing room, I just want to be able to get on the train.

A few years ago I was on the train at Bayonne station ready to leave. The train staff decided it was too overcrowded and took 15 passengers off the train. I was one of them. We were sent to SJPDP by taxi at SNCF's expense.
