Up at 0430 and on the trail by 0500 where I found it to already be 72F.
Throughout the morning I was on dirt and gravel trails and was treated to a beautiful sunrise 🌅 over the rolling Tuscan hills.
By 1000 it was already 95F and by 1100 I had already gone through 3 liters of water 💧.
While walking through the miles of grape 🍇 vineyards I was followed by two uninhibited and curious deer for about a mile.
By the time I reached San Querico d'Orcia I was ready for a shower, lunch and a nap.
San Querico is a nice little city known for its Truffles, wild 🐗 boar and Brunello wine.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Bob, are you losing any weight or are you eating too well?😋
How cute to have curious deer following you; very unusual to see.
I love those village photos. It's amazing to me how colorful flowers or some plants add so much visual interest to the stonework on many buildings.
I believe your picture of the "soldier" Cypress trees is the one on the cover of my guidebook. Yep, that's it.

@CaminoChrissy - I have lost over 20 pounds on this trip. I usually lose 15 on a "regular" Camino distance.
I make sure to eat carbs during the day and protein at night and have at least 2 substantial meals per day.
My water intake is at least 4 liters per day and I am using electrolytes in my bottles when I walk.
Prior to getting on trail 👣 each day I drink at least 1 to 2 500ml bottles as I get packed.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

Amazing accomplishment on weight loss, Bob, in addition to inching towards Rome!
I will assume you are happy to have shed those pounds.

Good luck today, if you are pushing for Radicofani. More deer to be seen on this stretch, hope you get a glimpse. Take care. (And congrats on also finding the location of the guidebook cover!)

Reading the press release again, there is an app that shows locations called WAIDY WOW. Downloaded and tried it. Works on iOS and Android.

Benvenuto a Val d'Orcia ... those exquisite rolling hills enhanced by rows of cypress leading to hilltop estates, lush vineyards and fine people. If you're ever driving rather than walking, hope you have time to discover Bagno Vignoni, Pienza and many more little gems that contribute to the elegance of southern Tuscany.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
