In case it’s helpful for those who are looking to start their Sanabres walk from Granja de Moruela:

Last week, when I reached Granja de Moruela while walking the via de la plata, I continued north to Astorga as I wanted to finish the Plata and then continue on the San Salvador from León to Oviedo.

After reaching Oviedo, I decided to return to Granja de Moruela and continue on the Sanabres to Santiago. I couldn’t find reliable information online about schedules etc.

When my bus from Oviedo arrived Zamora at 1:45pm, I went around the station looking for info with no luck. Most of the ticket windows were closed and the only open window did not know. Then I went down to the bus bays and asked couple Vivas drivers but they just said they don’t go to Granja. Finally one driver pointed me to a bus on the far left platform and said it that was leaving imminently.

The name of the bus company is Autocares Santiago Castaño and it was a small bus that left Zamora at 2pm (today on a weekday). I made it just as he was closing the door. It cost 4.10euro and took about 45 minutes. I am not sure how often they run but I suspect it is not very often. The bus first made a stop at a school in Zamora where many students that live in the pueblos got on and then stopped at Riego del Camino then Granja de Moruela. It also drove right past the Albergue in Fontanillas (I’m guessing they would have stopped if anyone needed a stop there).
