Buying hiking poles along the Primitivo route

Hi, I start my Camino from Oviedo on Sunday the 23rd of June. I was hoping to buy some hiking poles from the Decathlon store, but it doesn’t seem to open on a Sunday, nor do the other hiking stores.

Does anyone know if there is Sunday openings during the summer months? If not, would anyone know of a hiking store within the first couple of days of walking?

Thanks

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
There is a sports store in Grado; Deportes Pedro, C el Curato, 17, 33829, Grado. Phone is +34 985 75 19 80 There is no website that I could find, but the google reviews strongly suggest a wide variety of sporting goods.

Worst case scenario, you could always taxi back to the Decathalon in Oviedo, buy your poles, and then back to Grado.

Thanks, yes I noticed that one, but like you there wasn’t much info about what it supplied.

Generally Spanish shops do not open on Sunday, except for a few convenience stores. You could order online from Decathlon and have them delivered to your accommodation in Oviedo (check with them first, of course).
Thanks that might be a good option.

Molly, perhaps try calling one of the many China bazaar stores in Oviedo. They are open Sundays.
Or you might be able to buy your poles at an Oviedo sporting goods store by phone & they could leave them for you at a pre-arranged location?
Though Grado has 2 sporting goods stores, I think it would be most helpful to have your poles at the start of your Camino. Buen Camino!

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!

Darragh, I'll be in Grado on the 29th and I'll try to check out Deportes Pedro for poles when I am there. I'll also keep an eye out for other options.
