The Spring Meeting of the Calgary Chapter, Canadian Company of Pilgrims will be held at Good Shepherd Anglican Church (408 - 38 Street SW, Calgary) on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 7 p.m. (doors open at 6:30). As in the past, everyone is welcome - light refreshments are served - tapas/wine are gratefully accepted.
Monique Rigole will give the presentation for the evening entitled "St James: Martyred in Jerusalem, buried in Santiago de Compostella: legends and historical evidence." You are likely familiar with the legend surrounding Santiago's remains in Galicia. This talk will present some historical evidence which explains how the body of Santiago may have arrived in Spain and highlight historical events which caused Santiago de Compostella to become one of the most important pilgrim sites during the Middle Ages.
