Caminha to Tui link

I'm planning to cross over from the Coastal to Central Camino at Caminha. I would appreciate any comments relating to this route from pilgrims that have done it. Is it better to split into two stages - Caminha to Vila Nova de Cerveira and from there to Tui? Is the route well marked? Is there a lot of road walking? Where to stay, I walking with my wife staying in albergues?

I walked it last year. Along the ecopista, and split it in two. And found it a nice but a bit boring walk. I stayed in the Pousada de Juventude. It was clean and simple. Rooms with 2 and 2 bunks in them.

I did it last June.It looked a pretty straightforward walk along the river, on a flat bike track.But by the time I was near Valenca,I'd had enough.No stopping places.I was quite tired and getting short of food and water,so I eventually took a taxi into Tui.He just happened to be coming out of a house and I thought why not? Its quite a long stretch(I'm 79)and I was having a less than great day.It's not a competition is it? so why beat yourself up?

Thank you for your feedback. Based on this plus other comments I have decided to split the stage in 2 and will most definitely take provisions with me. Today's taxi is the equivalent of a donkey in medieval times.

You can split up the track between Caminha and Valença in two.
Walk from Caminha to Vila Nova the Cerveira ( about 15 kms by the Ecopista or the normal route through small villages ) where is a youth hostal( kind of an albergue) and some restaurants around the corner. Next day you can go on for about 15 kms to Valença or even to Tui.
Valença is well worth sightseeing the fortress with an overview of the Minho river , the Eiffel bridge and the Spanish landscape at the other side of the river.

Than you. What you suggest is what we are planning to do. A number of fellow pilgrims have suggested a similar option.
