Greetings Pilgrims,

I created a Blogging Survival Guide after I completed my first Camino in 2018 to help others who wanted to create a blog to document their Camino experiences. (https://jjscamino.wordpress.com/)

The guide covers many things like setting up a FREE website on WordPress.com, free training on using WordPress, photography tips, photo editing software...

The guide has become a little outdated, so I spent the weekend updating the guide.

I'm no expert, but I hope that you might find this guide helpful if you are considering doing a blog.

Cheers,

-jj

Great guide @JJinWI! Now what do you consider to be the advantages/disadvantages to a blog over a Facebook post? I view Facebook as a journal for future me - much like your approach to a blog. Also noting I will only be taking an iPhone with me on my camino. What platform would you recommend?

I have never used Facebook, so I don't know a lot about it.

However, I like the idea of having a Camino blog as it is a separate entity. Whereas a "Camino blog" on Facebook (consisting of a bunch of Facebook posts) could get lost with all the other "noise" on Facebook. (NOTE: I am just basing this on my limited knowledge of Facebook)

FYI... you can set up your WordPress.com blog to automatically send new blog posts to your social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn...). Might be the best of both worlds??? Here is a video with the details (seems pretty nice!)

PLUS, a blog offers a more flexible layout, content...

I think the most important thing is to capture your Camino experience in real-time whether that be pen/paper, Facebook, blog...

Hope this helps!!!
