I'm from Pambula and leave for my first Camino May 4th, very excited. I think I have everything I need, probably too much! Will soon find out. There is a really good training walk Tathra to Walagoot lake very up and down, a real test for get and knees.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Thank you for the training tip. All my best wishes go with you. I would love to have a chat with you on your return.

Welcome @4329barbara and Buen Camino! We are leaving Sydney on the 5th May so not far behind you, but we are walking the Norte and Primitivo route. The Camino Frances is definitely the way to go the first time.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Thanks Kanga, I am definitely happy to be doing the Frances this time but am already thinking of other ways for the future, this is certainly an addictive mind set and I am loving it, Buen Camino to you to.

I agree that Camino Frances is the way to go first. I walked it two years ago and going back at the end of April to walk from Le Puy to St Jean Pied de Port. Im excited!

BTW, I live on the Far South Coast of NSW too. Potato Point.

We are blessed to live in a beautiful part of the world. Enjoy your walk, I'm excited for you too, sometimes I feel I could just jump up and down clapping my hands like a three year old, best not, they may try and get me medicated, or put away, some of my friends think I'm nuts already, they just don't understand it....we do!

I also have friends who dont understand why I want to do these walks. The
walks are hard sometimes but so amazing!! I found that provided you go at your own speed...whatever that is..you will be fine. I met an 80 year old French woman who was doing it well!! Dont rush..make sure you give yourself plenty of time.

Yes, I agree, I am going to go as slow as I need to and want to so that I can take in as much as possible, as I have already decided that I will be back to do the bits I may miss this time, either that or do a different path next time, or both.

I'm from the 'Gong and leave SJPDP for my first Camino on May 5th. All the best to everyone on the walk.

Hi - if you are on face book, there are a couple of very active groups in Sydney and NSW, and also there is also the Australian Pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago de Compostella (yes, I know that there is a sp. mistake there), face book group. Just look us up on facebook....we are all very friendly and happy to chat at any time...

I'm at Tuross Head, just across the river from Spud Point. I think there is a couple from around the Tilba area who walked the Camino Frances a couple of years back. If you want a good training walk, the 6k track up Mount Dromedary from the Tilba general store is very reminiscent of the climb to O'Cebreiro, including the wonderful views. The sign at the bottom says it's a 5 hour round trip, but two and a half hours should see it out. It's more authentic if you wait for a very wet day!

Bogong

I started out from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port on 1 May. It turned out to be an unforgetable day. Above 1,000 m or so it snowed, catching many people unprepared. Later that day "many" walkers were...
And another attempt looms, to buy a decent Poncho after trying and failing in the previous two likely towns. Anyone know where an Altos or similar might be bought in Leon, please? 😁
