* How to use the http://www.godesalco.com/plan website to plan your daily schedule:
•Once connected to the site click on English.
•Click on the route you are doing – Camino de Santiago for the Camino Frances.
•Click on the circle ◙ to the left of the town where you are starting, eg: Roncesvalles
•Scroll down to the town where you will finish, Santiago, and click on the right circle. ◙
•You can type your name in the space provided, then click on SEND THIS FORM.
•In the new page, the mileage between each village and town will be displayed. Click on each place where you would like to stay. If you are planning on walking 20km per day, click on the town closest to the 20km distance displayed to the left of the town. Eg: Roncesvalles is ticked.
•Click on Zubiri – 21,8km will be displayed. Then click on Pamplona and 20,5km will be displayed.
•Continue choosing your overnight stops until you have reached Santiago. Enter the dates of your pilgrimage in the space provided.
•Click on SEND THIS FORM and the next window will offer you different documents to download with your daily schedule, profile of the route etc.
•After downloading an option, click on the ‘BACK” facility on the page to download another option. (If you click on the back option on the search engine you will lose the page.)

If you understand Spanish, go to http://www.caminodesantiago.es/ where you can download and print their very useful and up-to-date guide (not only for the Francés, but for many other routes too). For each stage, there is a map, an elevation map, photos of various places of interest, a description and photos of most of the albergues, with their location. The whole site has recently been renewd. We have used this guide twice, each time printing out a fresh version, because they are continually up-dating it). What I do is, make a copy and then, as various bits of information appear (say on the Forum), I write them in on the appropriate page. For us it has been invaluable, as we can't find a Camino guide in the bookstores here. This year, we will walk the Sanabrés and we have already downloaded their guide. I also printed out and took with me last year the other guide mentioned: http://www.caminoguide.net, which is very clear and practical. Anne

With respect to Anne's information about a very useful site for those who understand Spanish I have had good luck using Google's language tools to translate foreign language sites to English. It isn't perfect but can be very useful and I suspect that if I can make it work almost anyone should be able to.

I am confused. I cliecked on this link above http://www.caminodesantiago.es/ and it took me to a site that appeared to be more about art than the Camino and when I clicked on to the British flag to take me to an english language version of the site it led to a screen saying something to the effect that the site was no longer maintained. The web address is incorrect?

Hi John. You are quite right! I have just tried this link and it takes you to a completely different site. The correct one is : http://www.caminodesantiago.consumer.es
