Time of past OR future Camino
April 2024 Via de La Plata Sevilla start
Flew in yesterday to Sevilla. My driver is a fellow Pilgrim. He was totally thrilled when he found out my plans to walk the VLP. He has done 3 Caminos by Mountain Bike. His first ended in a crash where he ended up with a fractured skull almost died and was in an induced coma for 3 days. He was unable to walk, talk or see when he woke from the coma. He slowly recovered. However was terrified to ride his bike. Eventually completely recovered and overcame his fear. He has now completed 3 Caminos. He attributes his recovery to the power of the Camino.

Staying at Hotel Simon. Highly recommend it. A bit pricey due Semana Santa and Féria day Abril. Excellent location if you have time to spend in Sevilla.

Picked up my credencial and have to Cellos. One from the hotel and one from the Cathedral
If you are inclined to go to Mass, do so. It is in the Royal Chapel. Ask the guards for the proper entrance. Entrance is free. If you go to the 0830 you can wander the Cathedral afterwards. Thus, you avoid the entrance fee and crowd of tourists.

Starting the Camino Saturday April 6.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Oh thanks for the info about pilgrim mass. I missed this when I was in Sevilla.
And I think I would choose Hotel Simon next time - I got my credential there and it looked great.
May you have a blessed Camino

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

One reason for me choosing the VDLP is to avoid the constant stress of the bed race on the busier routes. Alas I haven’t escaped it. Literally every bed (that I’m able to contact) is full from...
I think I’m on day 12, so not quite two weeks in. Thus far the VDLP is definitely a different animal than the CF. And I have to say, I’m struggling to enjoy it as much as the CF last year. I...

Gronze has a note for the albergue in Valdesalor saying the key needs to be picked up from the town hall or the bar. Am I correct in assuming that this only applies if you are the first to arrive...
(Live on the Camino, but I don't know how to post with that tag) The Camino Sanabres winds through small stone villages and along vast green pastures rimmed in stone walls. Sometimes you walk on...
