Time of past OR future Camino
Camino Frances (August 19-sept 30,2013) (8/2017)
We had planned to go back to Spain and walk the Camino Frances for a 2nd time. It looks like it will have to be postponed until next year (8/2017). I am really disappointed but there is nothing I can do. I have to believe that this is just part of my journey and accept it. If anything changes, then I'll be the first one to pack my bags. Time goes by fast, so I am just going enjoy everybody else's journey this year. Buen Camino

So sorry, @vgen5122:
I pray that you will be back on the pilgrim trail very soon, with good health and all in order behind you. If things change, do consider doing a walk out of your usual season. You might enjoy it and Spain is open to pilgrims at every season. Blessings in all your journeys.

Sorry to hear this.
Wish you both all the best for the future, Peter.

So sorry to hear, @vgen5122 ! May you be able to look back on this time and know for sure that postponing was the wisest thing you could have done. Had you already booked your flights, too?

No, we hadn't booked the flight yet, thank God. No health issues either. Just life getting in the way and a bad time to walk the Camino Frances. I'm generally a positive person, so I have to go and make some lemonade and look forward to next year. I really have to thank everybody who replied on the forum for helping me feel better. Buen Camino.

Vgen: Since you're in NorCAL ... If it was me I'd get over to Tahoe and hike some Desolation Wildernesss. Catch the Echo Lake water taxi and head over to Lake of the Woods!

. . . and from Vacaville I'd head right over to the Muir Woods or Point Reyes!

Thank you, but I've been there and done that many times. Your thoughts are appreciated. I'll think of doing something for practice.
Buen Camino.

I swore after my first Camino that I would never walk in a Holy Year because of the outrageous crowds. Last summer I was geared up to walk with my second son, but that fell through for various reasons, and I was forced to delay until this year. It was a hard delay to make.

Then, there goes good Pope Francis declaring this to be a Jubilee Year, and I'm now an oathbreaker. (Mind you, I am immensely pleased at what and why he has done this, I'm just not as keen on the crowds.) The discussion of crowds, however, led my son and I to select alternate routes, which, I pray, will leave us to deal with big waves only on the first day or two, and the final two days. The changes are exciting for us, and will make this pilgrimage "ours" unique from that with my older son three years ago.

All of which is to say that man plans and God laughs. And, yet, I'd rather his laughter than his tears, so I accept with all the grace I can muster, and trust that he will once again provide along the Camino.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Yes I can relate in walking in a Holy Year. I did in 2010 and it was horrendous too many people on the road people getting up at 4 AM and seeing people that had slept outside. As I begin my Camino from Lourdes this year on June 5 I will see how it goes. If too many people and albergues full will simply switch to another route. Plus it is not essential for me to get a compostela. Nevertheless will make the best of it. There are always pensions and church door ways?
