Discount airfares for pilgrims within spain

Dawn of a new Day

Active Member
Ivar, Thanks for your previous messages regarding the via de la plata. I was reading in one of my books that iberia offers 50% discount on airfares, booked by pilgrims. Seems vueling and spainair are limited in the service, and iberia offers ridiculous prices.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
I think the 50% discount was a thing they did a few years ago and they have since discontinued it. As far as I remember the 50% discount was only applicable on a "full fare" making it... not so cheap after all.

If you book in advance you can get tickets as low as €50 one way from Santiago to Madrid with Iberia so if you can book early you might find something.

Try to look at:
http://www.vueling.es
http://www.iberia.es
http://www.clickair.es
http://www.spanair.es

... and if the prices are "crazy" have a look at flying into/out of La Coruña (1 hour by bus from Santiago) or Vigo (one hour from Santiago as well).

Buen camino,
Ivar

thanks Ivar, with checking with the airlines here is some info for others that are also looking at options.
The only choice from Madrid to Seville is Iberia airlines (of course for a riduclous price) therefore it looks like the AVE is the best option.
from Santiago return to madrid two options.
1. iberia, crazy price
2. spainair which was 68E. so either this, the train or the bus is the best option.
I wonder how iberia stays in business with Their prices. perhaps when i arrive in madrid they will want to fill up there plane with a wonderful canadian!!!! (ha ha)
i have seen photos of the via de la plata, and i am getting very excited. north of zamora looks absolutely amazing. Ivar please hold off the rain please!!!
