Easter 2024

Time of past OR future Camino
April 2024
I will be leaving from SJPP on April 1, 2024. Since Easter is on March 31, I’m wondering if I will have any problems/closed offices or albergues? I’m planning to arrive a couple days early. Thanks for your help.

Holy Week and Easter are the time when many albergues reopen after the winter closed season. There should be a lot of places open. Bear in mind that Holy Week is usually a busy time on the Caminos - you may want to consider reservations for the first few days. After Pamplona the pressure on bed spaces usually tails off.

Actually, don’t count on “April 1” albergues opening earlier than April 1st just because Easter comes early in 2024. Weather, staffing, utility costs, and so much more goes into the decision of when to open so definitely make contact with albergues before arriving or you may find yourself literally left out in the cold.

Thanks for the input! Does anyone know if the pilgrim office in SJPP will be open on the Monday after Easter?

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
