Many, various, and continuing.
He stayed in the top-of-the-line "habitacion emblematico," a mock-up of what the Great and the Good maybe should´ve enjoyed back when this place was in its prime. Most of the rest of the rooms are just pretty nice, with fabulously large bathtubs... and the drinks in the bar are very large and very refreshing... and you have your very own cloister!

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.

"Of course no self respecting pilgrim would stay there", though it once was an albergue. (Can we have it back, please?)

I have not stayed there but if you go to the parador at LeĂłn, Santiago or Santo Domingo remember that they are all steeped in Camino history. (Can we have them all back, please?)

The LeĂłn parador was at one point (built as?) the HQ of the Order of the Knights of Santiago.

Take your camera and get lots of shots. I stayed in the Santiago parador for my 50th birthday and spent the best part of a day going everywhere I was allowed and took lots of photos and video. Given the expense I doubt if I will stay there again.

Given the prices of paradors you must make the most of your stay there unless, of course, you are rich and don't notice the size of the bill.

Parador San Marcos, Leon
I stayed there for 2 nights last week and it is worth every penny. I got a good price by going through Booking.com and when I arrived a day early, they gave me the same price because I was a pilgrim. I'd forgotten the scene in the movie where they all ended up in the same room but after 3, then 4 of my compadres showed up in my room we ordered a nice bottle of wine (Pelegrino!) and some extra glasses and had a little party before the others returned to their alberges. The staff at the parador were exceptionally helpful.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Hi Susan, you may be referring to the parador in Leon. I have personally stayed there and highly recommend it. If for no other reason to stay, just walking around is a history lesson. As an added benefit, it gives you a head start on your next leg because it is located on the trail exiting town. Also there are discounts if you look for them.

I have never stayed thereand have not seen the cloister or the chapel but anyone can go in to see the marvelous Moorish, well, they sort of converted to Christianity, the Morisco/Mudejar ceiling of wood just to the right as you enter. Amazing, almost like a sculpture of interlocking wooden stalactites! Should not be missed.

Hotel Akerreta, just past Larrasoana is where some of the filming was done. It is where the owner was using the table cloth pretending he was a toreador. It is also where Martin Sheen meets the blond woman. I stumbled upon this place in the snow on my Camino and as I was cold and tired I stayed there.
The hotel has info about the time the filming was done for those particular frames.
A great place to stay and when I ventured forth the following day I met my Camino family and travelled with them through the snow all the way on to Santiago. It was one the highlights of my Camino! Snow and Camino.
