Camino francais 2023
Hello all - I am in my early sixties and thinking of doing my first Camino next September probably starting in the second week from St Jean Pier de Port. I am reasonable fit and will set out with the intention of going all the way to Santiago and take it as it comes. I want the walk to be as comfortable as possible so I won't be carrying my world on my back and will be seeking out reasonably comfortable accomodation. Maybe not true pilgrim style but its the best for me I think. I am a little anxious about the trip re the navigation and the bookings but there is a lot of reassurance on this forum that all will be well!! Might be good to link with others who are of a similar frame of mind. I will be travelling from Ireland.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

Hola and welcome to the forum

There is no right or wrong way to be a pilgrim or walk the Camino.
The only thing that matters is that you are having a walk that is suitable for you as a person.
Many people have had the experience that walking the Camino was life changing.
That is something that all humans can benefit of at some time in their life.

Nowadays, you can send your backpack forward to your next albergue/hostal for about 5 Euros each day.
That may be a great ressource for you or at least know it is a possibility.

Else, there really is no better advice, in my opinion, that plan ahead and focus on getting to your starting point.
Once you are there take it a day at the time and learn as you go.

Have a great walk.

I hope this helps.

Buen Camino

Welcome! You have a very reasonable attitude and thus will have a very enjoyable Camino.
Use gronze.com and booking.com as guides to accommodations, if you're interested, I can PM you my excel sheet with tested and proven ones.
Meanwhile, you may start learning to write Saint Jean Pied de Port correctly 😎

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
