Food along the Camino

New Original Camino Gear Designed Especially with The Modern Peregrino In Mind!
I have found that it takes willpower and intelligence to figure how to handle food on the Camino. Let me explain::Spaniards often open shop at 9am. Oftentimes, when one wants to leave early to manage the heat and finish in the early afternoon, you need to figure out having a real light breakfast. In 15 days of walking the Aragones, I was thankful for having madeleines and soluble coffee. Usual mid day meal, no problem, usually excellent. The trouble is the evening when dinner starts at 8.30pm. Food management and walking is an absolute necessity.

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
In general, is there any restriction on where you can keep food overnight in albergues? (I'm thinking like a pastry or bread or something for the morning) When I've stayed in dorm-like settings previously, food wasn't allowed in the sleeping areas for pest control purposes. Wouldn't want to make extra work for our hosts! :)

I have not encountered this restriction. I always have food with me and just keep it in a small plastic container or ziplock bag in my backpack. Buen Camino!
