Food and Drink of the Way!

As we continue to accumulate more information for us pilgrims, I was thinking about how cool it would be to include the foods of each of each region. Imagine supporting and enjoying the local foods by town or region. Or seasonal specialties that we travelling pilgrims could sample along the way. Cheeses, cured meats, fruits vegetables or specific dishes and styles of cooking. We could eat those "must try" foods all the way to Santiago, Rome, Jerusalem etc. Let's eat!
 
The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
You reminded me of this Easter treat that blew me away in spain. “Torrijas’ or a spanish bread pudding or Spanish (not French) toast.
It’s so sweet and I really overindulged the first time I spent Easter in spain. Sweet tooth ....mmmmmm

I’ve just taken a copy from internet. So many recipes there to choose from.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

I hear ya! We ordered calamari in Portugal many times...the rings, chiperones, and baby squids cooked in various sauces. I loved it all, but by the time we made it across the border I'd finally had enough. 😛

The Morcilla in the square outside Burgos Cathedral, the fish, especially Merluza, (Hake), in Galicia and the Cidre.

I call the Camino my “eat and drink as much as you like and still lose weight” diet. It has served me well for two decades.

Much as I am sad that my yearly ‘workout’ was not possible last year and nor will it be possible this year or maybe next year, I am more sad for all the establishments that are suffering. I live in Australia where things are relatively brighter (although lots of people such as performance artists are affected).View attachment 91817

Let's talk about croissants on the Le Puy because let me tell you, my love for laminated dough was blissed out in France. Nothing better than a dark, crusty croissant fresh from zee boulangerie to get me going in the morning.

....Never happier or more secure than when I had a fresh baguette stuffed in my backpack.

I like your diet but I find it’s just too hard to keep the weight off on return .... (without the full day walk to burn the energy - so it’s a yo yo for me )
