Yep. If there is an item for your backpack that you are not certain that you need . . . . you don't.

If for some reason you DO find that you SHOULD have brought it, you can always get it in Spain.

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.
Unless you are extremely fit go easy at least for the first few days. Just because so many pilgrims have been successful does not guarantee that you will be. Anybody any moment can pull or fall or break something. The most common injury is the result of trying to walk too far too quickly carrying too much! Also remember to keep well hydrated.

It's not a race so enjoy every moment and explore as much as you can in the time you have to complete it. Oh and if you get up before everyone else in your dorm, please don't keep your last minute items in noisy carrier bags. Finally, don't forget most small stores will be closed during the afternoon so if you want a picnic lunch on the way buy your food the evening before or during the morning.
Buen Camino

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Forfeit your expectations and enjoy what the Camino brings you. Don't compare your Camino to those of other people; they walked theirs and you are walking yours. There are no absolute rules that dictate what you must do to "do it right". If you get a feeling for taking a side trip, do it; if you want to move ahead by bus, do it; if you want to go slower, do it. Listen to your body; if you are not in ideal condition then listen twice as long and be twice as careful.

The Camino is for everyone. That means that we have everything from crazy people to rude people, to Christ-like people, to fabulous people. Ignore the actions of others; it is not personal. Be the kind of person that serves others, thinks of their needs, and brightens their day.

in france there are two 'sundays' when the majority of shops are closed... sunday and monday. by saturday night i always furnished myself with extras... extra dried fruit/nuts/a little extra dry cheese/small sausage/a little extra fresh fruit for monday and tuesday breakfast. and i always carried a couple packets of instant soup mix. it makes a quart and often in the gite there was something in the cupboard - rice, lentils, a veg or two - something to bulk up the soup. it's not a feast but it most certainly staves off famine. you'll learn quickly what your needs are and the 1/4Kg of extra weight, you'll not even notice.
bon chemin!!
