Adding to what @peregrina2000 said You can Also reduce the size of the picture when you upload them

As you choose the picture look to the bottom of the picture (At least for apple) it gives you the option to reduce size before you hit the upload

I do think there are many who would prefer the thumbnail. And getting the full size picture is easy, even for someone like me — just click on the thumbnail and it opens up full size.

Another option which is even simpler is to click "Attach files," then upload the photos.
That's it.
If you don't insert them in the message, they will hang out at the bottom of the post as thumbnails - and if anyone wants to see them all they need to do is click the image.

Yes, I think this is the best way. Then readers can scroll up and down the thread easily, with the photos nicely organized.

Received from Gareth this evening.
"Most but not all albergues are open. Every second bed is empty though so capacity is limited. Everyone walking seems to get a bed. There are the expected hygiene requirements - use the hand sanitizer and masks are mostly expected inside in the albergues. Apparently about 80 people are setting out each day. It’s really hot now. It was 38 degrees today! Fun times though."
