When is the best time of the year to do this route? When does it rain the most?

I walked it from mid August. It was superb weather. Quite hot at times but I did not mind.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

The weather in that region is very unpredictable, as you can get dominant weather from Alpine/Continental, Northern or Southern French, with possible Mistral winds for good measure. The Alpine weather itself is unpredictable almost on an hourly basis, too, even the locals can't predict it. It will gradually become more predictable as you move out of the mountains, though you should not be surprised by presence or absence of winds or storms until you get well past the broad RhĂ´ne river valley system. I'd not worry too much about rain once you're out of the mountains, except the potential for storms.

Nevertheless, late Spring to early Autumn will likely be the best period.
