Hi all,
My first post. I am in training for the Camino. I am 64 years old and am currently walking 15ks a day, mostly flat country, but drive to some hills for practice. I will book when I can string together 2 weeks of 20km days. I am "directionally challenged" and was wondering if I could hire a guide to take me from St Jean to Orisson then a second day to Roncesvalles. Has anyone heard of someone offering this service? Thanks. sriyantra

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
Actually, it sounds like you are very much ahead of the average Pilgrim. Your training level is above what most people ever achieve before starting out. Most who are still working do not have the time to walk 15 km every day. I would not be too concerned about your fitness level.

Your second concern is really quite easy. You do NOT need a personal guide to walk from SJPdP to Roncesvallles. It is a straight walk, mostly on a road, to Orisson. It is well marked and usually has a parade of Pilgrims....unless you sleep in your first day. From Orisson on it is well marked and not many places you could go off from the trail unless it is very foggy. They usually close the Route Napoleon in dangerous weather.

In any case, it is very easy to hook up with a group of people walking at the same time. Just follow the leader.

You really do not have any reason to have any worries about this. You are good to go! 8)

Thank you for the encouragement. I didn't mention that I am walking approx 4km an hour, I don't take all day to do the 15ks ! I had thought about next May, but maybe I can move it forward now to November. Thanks again. Sonia
