High Speed Train

I would like to take the high speed train from Santiago de Compostela to Madrid on June 9th. I think I found the website for the high speed train (Renfe), but I am not sure where to end up in in Madrid. I will be flying back to the US the next day so will stay somewhere near the airport that night. The page can be translated to English, but there are still a lot of Spanish terms that even when I translate them, I am not sure what they mean. Thank you.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

@SparkyW, I did this: I set the language of the Renfe website to English, as @trecile describes it. I searched for trains from Santiago de Compostela to Madrid (Todas) on June 9. In the list of search results, I picked a ticket and clicked on Next. I noticed that the text under "Outward Journey" changed from Madrid (Todas) to Madrid-ChamartĂn-Clara Ca. "Todas" means all Madrid train stations and Madrid-ChamartĂn is the arrival station for the chosen train.

I think that all trains from Santiago arrive at the Madrid-ChamartĂn station.

Buen Camino!

Chamartin Station is about a 20 min cab ride from the Barajas neighborhood near the airport. I have stayed at Hostel Viky in that neighborhood, and they provided free transport to and from the airport.

Instead of a taxi you could also take the train from Chamartin to the airport and then have a hotel (like Hostal Viky) pick you up.

All trains from Santiago go to Chamartin. There is a Cercanis train directly to the airport. We usually stay out by the airport at one of the Marriott properties with a shuttle. There are other brands with a shuttle as well. Take the Cercanis train to the airport and catch the hotel shuttle to your hotel and back again in the morning.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

Or take the metro

As others have said the train from SdC gets into Madrid Chamartin. If you’ve got an early flight next day, or have another reason to spend your last night in Spain in a soulless chain hotel, then there are direct train and metro options from Chamartin to Barajas airport. Taxis also.

if you’re not pressed for time, central Madrid’s a short tube ride away and the yellow aerobús from Atocha is a swift and reliable option to get to the airport. Taxis also.

I used the RailEurope.com site, and found it much easier to navigate than the Renfe site.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).

Hi Sparky
I am booked for myself, my son-in-law and two granddaughters from Santiago de Compostella to Madrid 9th June. 10.20 from Santiago arriving in Madrid Charmartin 13.42. I booked through Rail Europe but the tickets I printed out are by Renfe. We will be flying back to the UK 10th June and like you will be staying overnight near the airport.
Hope this helps.
Buen Camino
Vince

Thank you all. I just booked my ticket on the Omio app. Sounds like I am on the same train as you, Vince.
