any rough estimates on how much walking is along the following types of roads?

1. dirt/gravel road/path
2. paved road, light traffic
3. paved road, with heavy traffic

I'd be interested in knowing about the situation all the way from Paris if you happen to know it.

thanks

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Roads from Paris

I walked the Via Turonensis last year in May.
We followed - as closely as possible - the Confraternity of St James' "Paris to the Pyrenees" guide book.
I would say that 75% of the first 500kms walking from Paris was on tarred roads - some heavy traffic where you feel as though you are taking your life in youir hands! Further south, one starts to find Le Chemin de St Jacques 'camino like' paths. After Roncesvalles, I think only about 25% is on tarred roads although you usually have an alternative - tarred road or camino path. In heavy rain or bad weather we followed the route recommended to cyclists and that was on tarred roads.
Buen Camino,

Thanks a lot for the info - another question - how long did it take you from Paris to Spain(or approx how many kilometers)? Where would one get a hold of a map for that section?

thanks!
