LIVE from the Camino How's the weather?

Hi,
Two weeks to go, and I'm finalizing my list of gears. I'm ambivalent about the coat I'll take. We are walking from Sarria, do I need a really warm weather jacket or not?

Joost? Joost? Is that you?

In Your profile pic you kinda look like Joost :)

In my opinion you will not need a really warm weather jacket. A wind breaker or wind shirt will be sufficient. Any cool weather at a higher elevation can be handled with layering clothes -- t-shirt, short sleeve shirt, long sleeve shirt, jacket, and poncho!

Buen camino.

There is no way of predicting the weather in Spain. I walked the CF in June and July this year and I only had 3 days of light misty rain, the rest of the time it was warm and sunny. One exception was the day I rode on horse back up to O'Cebreiro in a sleet storm! (Sleet being the polite way to put it!)
I arrived in Santiago on 16 July and it commenced to rain every day. Since my return to Biarritz it has pretty much rained every day and we have rarely broken 20, so much for an enjoyable summer on the Cote Basque.
I suspect it is the same on the Camino this month.

I will probably be passing through Sarria on or around three weeks time. As always I will have a soft shell and a waterproof. They will be warm enough, I really don't feel the need for anything heavy/bulky. I hope this helps.

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

From the looks of the forecast- based on historical averages- high 60's during the day and low 50's at night. I am bringing a waterproof shell and a lightweight fuzzy fleece. Can always layer if needed! (Like my profile pic from April of '12- wore everything under my waterproof!) My son who lives in Vienna has just emailed me saying "I really hope you have warm clothes for your walk. You will need them at times I am sure." But then, he knows his mother feels the cold!
