If you have/are walking this summer... Would you do it again, knowing the restrictions/challenges?

Would love to hear personal accounts, especially from solo female walkers, on if they would suggest further postponing or going for it this fall. Good and bad, lessons learned, are so appreciated. (I plan to return for a solo walk in Sept/Oct as I did back in 2019, but for only two weeks this time.) Thanks in advance!

Male but did two last year (Portuguesa and Frances) and one this year (Norte). Wouldn’t even consider postponing personally unless you have very specific concerns! Been great tho I have not done a Camino in non COVID times. This year felt almost ‘COVID free’ with loads open and quite a few people about.

In July I (single, female walker) walked the Camino Aragonese-Camino Frances for 2 weeks and would absolutely do it again. My experience was that planning ahead for places to stay was a good idea, especially on the weekends. Many albergues were accepting fewer people due to covid restrictions.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

I
walked the Portuguese coastal end of June and I would do it again with no hesitation ( female of 68 and alone)
It was very different from the camino Frances before Covid ( 2018/2019)because there were so few pilgrims
Of course if I was COVID positive eventhough being fully vaccinated it would be a problem to stay somewhere during the quarantaine .., frankly I don’t know .
Just grateful I could do it whiteout any problem

I completed the San Salvador and Primitivo in June and although there were few pilgrims and I had to reserve in advance (all municipal albergues were closed then), I'm still glad I went.

I'm now planning another Camino for September but it just might be in France instead of Spain for the first time in 11 years (female, 65).

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

Male, but GO!. It's not bad...it's inconvenient in some ways, but it is the Camino. You may have to reserve more than you would have otherwise (and it could cost a tad bit more) because of municipal restrictions on #s...but flexibility. I just completed the Olvidado connecting to the French Way. From conversations, everyone I met would echo my response including solo females.

If you walk in France I would love to hear about your camino. I walked Le Puy in 2015 and I would love to return to France and do a new camino. Even if you go from Le Puy would still be so interested in your camino. Thanks

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

I WALKED THE ENTIRE CAMINO FRANCES IN FALL 2011, ALSO I WALKED FROM LE PUY EN VELAY TO CAHORS, FRANCE IN MAY, 2013 (About 350 Km) I PLAN TO WALK THE CAMINO DEL NORTE IN MID SEPTEMBER (2015)

I did Le Puy to Cahors in May 2013, it rained non stop and it was cold. Conques was amazing and the Aubrac region was memorable. I would definitely check the weather as it can get hot in the summer and freezing (especially in the Aubrac area) in winter. Late spring or late summer perhaps. Bon Chemin!

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Hi thanks for that. I walked the Le Puy in September and October. It was a little hot early on but never too hot. It was 2015 and I don't really remember any miserable days. We had some rain but it was never too intense. If you walk another camino in France let us all know about your experience.

Yes, male here. Stay fluid, roll with the flow. When I would have a problem, I just make that a starting point for a new plan. Have extra money on hand. That solves lots of headaches. My 2 cents as a10 year, 10-12 weeks each year, veteran of camino. Ultreia!

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

Maybe I'll do a "live" on the Vía Podiensis thread. Train booked so it looks like I'm doing it. Not enough time to get to SJPP but till Moissac or a bit after that.

Married American couple, 68 and 70, did our first Camino July 2021 Tui to SdC. No regrets, it was a joyful experience. We felt safe. We’re vaccinated, stayed in private rooms, and discovered mask-wearing is more prevalent in Galicia than in USA. People are just as friendly masked or unmasked.7DAEED9B-621D-4186-967A-F0717125E032.jpeg

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

Hi Tom, I don't mean to derail this thread, wife and I plan to walk the Olvidado in late September this year. I wonder if you found there is enough pension, cafe, etc. open in the Olvidado?? Did you meet a few pilgrims too? We are in our late 60's and meeting a few pilgrims would make us feel safe if any accident happen in the Camino!! Thanks very much if you could share more of your experience!!
Buen Camino de Vida!

81 and hoping to walk from Granada to Córdoba - but will that part of Spain be open? Watching the latest figures I fear another lockdown....
I'll be watching too! Sadly, I won't be able to go until Australia opens up again. I would really love to walk from Almeria to SDC finishing in Muxia, via Finisterre.
