The illustrations are wonderful. I looked at the one of the St. James Gate, Lugo and thought, hmmm...I've photographed this very spot...as I'm sure many of us have of sites along the camino

Very interesting book Thank you.
The author tells that in Spain letters B and V have the same pronunciation and quotes poet Martial "The Spaniards are happy because there "vivere ist bibere" (to live is to drink).
I didn´t know that this way of pronunciation came from Roman times.
Also interesting for me is Betanzos having electric lamps in 1906.

Glad so many enjoyed this. I spent a few hours reading and tracing the route they took. I think they may have been on bicyles, which was of interest to me too. When I have more time I may try to create a map of their route just for fun and to see if the route is still viable.
