In three days, I’m off. First to see the York (England) Mystery Plays, with my son in a cast of 500, and then on August 30 starting the Camino Frances from St. Jean. Even though the items numbered exactly 100 on my spread sheet, I can happily report that my back pack weight comes in at 13 1/2 pounds (6 1/4 kilos) without water and food. I feel comfortable with what I have decided to take and what I have decided to leave behind.
Thanks to the Forum participants for all the advice and prompt answers to questions. Most significantly, I have learned from you to avoid detailed planning and to let the Camino unfold for me. I hope I can continue to put that learning into practice in the weeks ahead.
Don’t look for a quick report back. This will be more an amble or a stroll than a hike. My plane home is not until November 2. In the meantime,

Good news on the pack weight! I am getting all of my things together, also, and am anxiously awaiting the outcome of my pack weight!! I will begin the walk soon after you, so we may bump into each other along the way.
Have fun with your son and may you both have a buen camino!
