I have to buy some gear, and outdoor stuff/supplies in Bilbao. In particular, need freeze-dried food packs, boil water and serve. Anyone suggest some places there? Places, big or small outfits, like Rei or Patagonia. Also, similar places in Santander? cheers.

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
Decathlon Abando bilbao been there several times goggle it.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Right. The Camino isn't a wilderness hike. You are walking through towns with grocery stores every day.
Maybe dnickel likes camping.?

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-
For whatever you need Decathlon is like Spain's (&France's?) version of REI I think. But it is WAAAY less expensive. It's like a candy store for me. Quality?... not hard core but good enough for the price...

EDIT: Another option I have used on occasion is amazon.es. You can use your USA prime account (sort of) and have stuff shipped to lockers or "counters". Of course you have to know where you are going to be a couple of days in advance. I've used this option when needing very specific items like shoes or backpacks. Last year (2023) I used it for getting the EXACT thing I wanted like maybe 3 or 4 times. Always sort of fun. A bit of a learning curve adjusting your location if using the app.

Right in the centre of Bilbao beside the main train station there is a classy shopping centre called El Corté Ingles. Up on the top floor there is a sports store:

Hello everyone, I will have to work digitally about every other day from Irun to SdC (bringing an iPad). What are the wifi connections like along the entire route? What about the Primitivo? Thanks.
I’m travelling to Irún today to start my Camino tomorrow morning - I’m flying to Biarritz getting in at 4pm, planning on catching the bus to Hendaye and walking to the pilgrims hostel from there...
