I figured that this article might best fit into the Via de la Plata / Sanabres forum, although it covers a lot more than that:
Many forum members will know José Almeida Rodríguez as the hospitalero who welcomed them to the donativo albergue in Tábara. He is also the President of the Zamoran Camino Association, and he is behind the initiative to re-open a traditional route - the Camino Zamorano Portugues.
If you are interested to know about the state of the camino as it emerges from the COVID-19 crisis, the challenges for small albergues to comply with hygiene regulations, the progress (or lack thereof) in establishing an albergue in Almendra del Pan (in the first stage of the Zamorano Portugues), and other topics, this is a very worthwhile article.
“Zamora merece un Camino propio que lleve su nombre, Zamorano-Portugués”
“La pandemia llegó como un tsunami y el sentido común nos aconseja no precipitarnos al abrir los albergues porque el problema todavía persiste”
