Walked May 14, 2014 from St Jean France

starting to walk again August 25, 2016 --SJPDP to Finisterre
Sitting around Santiago drinking beer, we were talking about unusual sights along the trail. The one specific item common to the trail and which no one had observed before was German Shepard Dogs herding cattle. Been in a lot of beef and dairy places, but never saw dogs chase cows like on the Camino. Several times we stopped to watch a couple German shepards chase a stray cow thru several fields and make it jump rock walls and hedge rows in order to joint the main herd. Very impressive to watch a full grown cow sail over a hedge row followed by two German Shepard dogs. Is this common in Spain?

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Common in South Africa but usually Astralian Cattle Dogs. My friend has a cattle farm and the dogs run along the backs of the cows jumping from one to the next to herd them.

I live in rural Galloway in Scotland, surrounded by hundreds of sheep all of whom are herded by collie dogs, but the most efficient working dog I ever saw was a German Shepard, working with one woman to control a huge herd of cows on the road to Finnesterre. The dog was a master and kept all the cows moving, without any orders at all from the woman.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

Here is a pic from 2016, I love the simplicity of the sketch map and directions "1 km climb up, 5km flat, 5km down". I wonder how the prices are now?
Reposted from Wise Pilgrim comments, was hiking with this pilgrim. Don’t follow app,go just a bit further past to well marked turn, not the one with spray painted arrow on stop sign:
