I set off from SJPDP on 2 January this year. For most of my walk to Santiago there were about 15 or so other pilgrims on each stage. Because very few places are open at that time of year you tend to see the same people for several days at a time. Unlikely you will be completely alone for long but it is certainly different from May or September!Hello, I was wondering if anyone else is planning or considering walking in January and February 2024? I'm considering a starting out date from St Jean Pied de Port of 21st January or somewhere around that date.
I'm not the only one, am I?
That sounds perfect! Thanks for sharing. How wet was it?I set off from SJPDP on 2 January this year. For most of my walk to Santiago there were about 15 or so other pilgrims on each stage. Very little rain. Two days I think. A couple of days with very strong cold winds and an hour or so of light snow in total. Apart from that mostly dry and sunny. But that could just be good luck - don't count on finding the same! Bring warm clothes and at least a waterproof jacket. That sounds perfect! Thanks for sharing. How wet was it?
Hi DGW, no, you are not the only one, I walked the CF starting February 1st of 2020. They gave me a list of open albergues at the Camino office in SJPDP and I was never alone in an albergue. The weather was on my side most days. I've posted a bit of my experience on that camino in a different thread titled "Starting the Camino del Norte January 30th". I will be starting on the Norte at the end of January 2024, we'll be on the Way at the same time albeit different paths, maybe arriving in Santiago at the same time. If you have any specific questions, please message me, I know how hard it is to find accounts of February Caminos and it surprises me given how many people do it. Buen Camino my friend, it's all good.Hello, I was wondering if anyone else is planning or considering walking in January and February 2024?
