My niece, Madeline, from Kansas City is on the CF around Estella today/tonight. She's a tall and blond university student and will be staying on in Spain to study in Barcelona after the Camino. (Wish we were there, too.) She reported to her mother today that everyone she has met so far was about 50 years old which seems ancient to her I am certain.

I told her the same thing. After we walked the CF a few years ago, she has always had an interest in doing the same. This year's study abroad was the perfect opportunity.

Today's report:
She met some folks from North Carolina who are pulling/pushing a wheelchair bound boy (age 15) in a wagon of some kind. There were a few 20-somethings in that group along with some older healthcare professionals. She is at the municipal in Estella and watching World Cup across the street at the bar. Sounds like she's having a great time.

I can remember when, as a teenager, one of the popular platitudes of the 1960s was 'don't trust anyone over 30.' Now, I resemble that remark TIMES 2...and then some...yikes! My, how one's perspective changes with the years...;)

This young lady will survive and thrive this 'shock' to her established paradigm. She may even come away from the experience a much more mature young woman.

I know the Camino 'improved' me as a human being...then again, I had a lot of room for improvement. I still do, but that is grist for another mill...

From airports to SJPP
Luggage from SJPP to Roncevalles
I walked and talked with her two days ago for well over an hour en route to Estella. She's a great kid... Mind you I'm 38 so hope I don't look like a 50 year old
I think anyone over 30 must look 50 to her. Don't take it the wrong way. We are REALLY old at 56 and 67 to her. I had a wonderful message from her yesterday saying how much she loved the Camino and was planning already for another. All ages are susceptible to the Camino Spirit it seems.

Haha I'm not bothered in the least. Glad she is enjoying it and the Camino spirit is a wonderful thing. You can pass on our regards from John McNamara and James from Ireland. Hope she loves the rest of her travels on the Way

Hello. I am considering walking the Camino for the first time this fall, probably beginning the third week of September in St. Jean. But I keep reading about how crowded the Camino is, including...

Is there a list of albergues that also have private rooms on the Camino Frances? Gracias.
Hi everyone -- After walking the Frances from SJpdP last October, I'm planning to revisit the bit between Logrono and Burgos this July, following different stages. It's the section where I had...
And another attempt looms, to buy a decent Poncho after trying and failing in the previous two likely towns. Anyone know where an Altos or similar might be bought in Leon, please? 😁
Has anyone used this hotel? It is near Ferrerios on the Camino Frances. How is the hotel and is it close to the Camino? Found it on Google Maps but I can't determine how near to the Camino.
