Late train/bus from Bayonne to SJPDP

Time of past OR future Camino

I will be arriving in Bayonne (June 23) in time to take the last Train/Bus to SJDPD which appears to arrive SJPDP after 2200. ARe there albergues that accept pilgrims that late? A number of albergues seem to be already sold out. Would it be better for me to stay in Bayonne and take first train in the morning?

Thank you

The pilgrims office in SJPdP will be open until the pilgrims from this last bus/train have arrived and can help you with accommodation, so yes, it is possible but it might be stressful and hurried and also the restaurants will, most likely, have stopped serving food by then.
I personally would spend a night in Bayonne, take the first bus/train to SJPdP, check with the pilgrims office, find a bed, find something to eat and buy provisions for the next day. Then I would I spend the rest of the day wandering through SJPdP and start the next day walking in a relaxed manner.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

In 2013 I arrived in SJPdP on that last train, and I had no reservations for accommodations. I didn't even know where the pilgrim's office was. I wandered around until I found a hotel that had a room available.
Had I known better I would have probably stayed in Bayonne that night and caught the first train to SJPdP the next day. Not much going on that late in SJPdP and really no use in arriving there that late if you have no intention of starting your Camino early the next morning.

Transport luggage-passengers.
From airports to SJPP
Luggage from SJPP to Roncevalles
There will be accommodation in SJPdP after 2200.

You are advised however to stay in Bayonne.

The first train leaves Bayonne to SJPdP at 0745 arr 0845 ... with enough time to walk to Roncesvalle.

Whilst it is certainly possible, depending on the weather and fitness, I don't think it is advisable to start so late in SJPdP and want to go all the way to Roncesvalles. The 7:45 train/bus arrives around 9:00, or shortly after, in SJPdP, then the walk to the pilgrims office, which will be most likely busy, a short look around SJPdP (which deserves more than that!), last minute shopping, a pilgrim would be lucky to be out of town by 10:00!

Yes, there is enough daylight in June to make it to Roncesvalles, but it also means to have the steepest climb when the day is already heating up (if the sun is shining ;-). If possible, I would suggest spending some time in SJPdP and than walk out to Huntto or Orisson and spend the night there (reservation necessary!).

Here is a pic from 2016, I love the simplicity of the sketch map and directions "1 km climb up, 5km flat, 5km down". I wonder how the prices are now?
