Bonjour everyone,
Just wondering if anyone has stayed at this place in La Romieu ... and, if so, how do/did you rate it? Specifically, I am interested to know about the breakfast ... I have read elsewhere that it did not amount to much and comprised [basically] bread or croissant with jam and coffee. I know that the other meals here are excellent [ate there myself last year] but I do enjoy a decent breakfast at the start of the day

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

Continental breakfast =/= English breakfast (which is similar to American breakfast). This is a regional characteristic. Bread with coffee is pretty much it in Spain as well. One hopes you will be able to encounter something like the Spanish bars that open in the morning and serve something more solid for "second breakfast." We actually don't wait around for "breakfast" if it's going to mean leaving significantly later. It takes a little getting used to, this walking on just a bit of water, but if food will be available at 0830 or 0900 it's bearable. Or you could get a snack for munching the next morning as you go from a store.
HTH, buen camino/bon chemin

This is the universal experience in France, as you will have discovered well before reaching La Romieu.

This is not actually an option along the Le Puy, since you are out in the countryside once you leave town.

This is your best option: pick up some cheese and sausages to supplement breakfast when you go shopping for lunchtime picnic supplies.

On very rare occasion in France, you may be offered some yogurt, or at an hotel, an extremely hard-boiled egg. (In a month, I saw an egg once and yogurt twice, to give you an idea of frequency.) It is nothing like the robust breakfast of eggs, meats, cheeses, breads, and fruits you would be offered in Scandanavia or the German-speaking lands.

That is really good to know. Thanks!
