Madrid Airport to Chamartin Train Station

My wife will be meeting me in Salamanca a few weeks after I start in Sevillia.
I am a bit confused by the available information on transport between the airport and Chamartin.
It appears that there is a train (not Metro) that leaves from under T4 and goes directly to Chamartin without transfers. It looks like it would be the 2nd stop after leaving T4.

The confusion is that there are more recommendations to take the Metro and transfer than to take the Cercanias (Renfe) train.

Thanks

Actually....I now found the correct information. Not sure why it seemed to get lost in the research.

Renfe office under T4 at the airport. Simple 11 minute ride to Chamartin Station or a little longer to Atocha if the final destination is serviced from there.

Sure beats the long Metro routes with transfer or the 25-30 euro taxi ride.

You are correct. Take the surface line train - I believe it is C1 and it takes you directly from the airport terminal 4 to the Chamartin train station in about 10 mins. Better still given what I posted on my previous entry about transportation to and from Madrid, if you have a prepared AVE ticket from Chamartin to Santiago the trip on the surface train might be free. Please check with the train station personnel. At least it was for us, when we arrived in Madrid from Santiago a week ago and then needed to travel to the airport to take a hotel shuttle to our hotel.
