Agree with the author who would skip last 100km of the Camino. For me and many others the camino loses its joy when it gains its crowds. Perhaps regain route at Lavacolla right before entering into Santiago.

Burgos and Leon are must stops for a day of sightseeing. Pamplona, Estella, Astorga, maybe Ponferrada if you had plenty of time and/or needed to rest in my opinion.
