Madrid to Santiago by electric skateboard!

Bradypus

Migratory hermit
Time of past OR future Camino
Too many and too often!
Something novel I came across this morning. A woman from Argentina has just made a 700km journey from Madrid to Santiago by electric skateboard. The ABC.es article has a short video about the journey.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
Something I have thought man times before...

Just when you think you've seen it all.

No criticism of the poster intended. Just talking about the evolution of the walk/Way/Camino.

Using an Insta360 camera (with accessories) to get the video.

Wonder what contemporary technology earlier pilgrims used. The latest in sackcloth and ashes?

Scribes walking backwards a few paces ahead of their patron carrying a very long roll of vellum and a small palette of ink and paints to record their deeds for the day? Then passing the scrolls on to the minstrels in the evening for wider circulation?

Very happy to see that there are apparently no victims of this folly.
Just today, a little boy was killed near Rome by some you-tubers participating in and recording a challenge at high speed in a car.

Contrary to what tiktoker ms González claims, I fail to see the sustainabilty of her speed race. The whole enterprise screams: look at me, me, me! and nothing else.

My two cents. Sorry!

Ideal pocket guides for during and after your Camino. Each weighs just 40g (1.4 oz).

How very unkind to refer to another person's journey as a folly.

Have you ever looked at a Camino blog, read an account of a Camino journey, watched a YouTube video on the Camino? Do you ignore all the photos and "Live from the Camino" threads on this site?
This is just another one of those. It's not to your taste, that's fine. The judgement is not so fine in my book.

Does anyone know what the official “season” is for Skateboarders? It would be fun trying to pot one moving at that sort of speed…
Be careful what you wish for! I was most amused to see a banner at a recent demonstration in Barcelona that said something like "How can it be tourist season of we're not allowed to shoot them?" :)

Last month I was surprised to see how many peregrinos were on electric bikes. Do the good folks in Santiago give compostellas to those who come by e-transportation???

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

Apparently the pilgrim office policy was to give Compostelas to those who use pedal-assisted e-bikes. So @t2andreo told us last year. It may have changed since then.

Gosh what a cynical take. What does skateboarding the Camino have to do with a high speed chase outside of Rome? Who would be a victim of her “folly”? (It’s a skateboard, not a car).

Don’t be so grumbly

Well February is basically a gap between pheasant and trout in Cumbria - I presume some luckless and now extinct animal once met its end then.

Traditionally the open season would be the opposite of the breeding season, which for a skateboarder might be equally difficult to determine.
