March 2014 - con mi padre
Hello Forum! My name is Stephanie. (I have another username on this site - stelrey - but I've stopped using that email address, so I made a new account. I would have deleted my old account if I'd known how. I hope this is ok. If not...apologies!)

I'm a 35-year-old woman living in rural Eastern Canada. I'm walking the camino frances with my dad in 2014. I've been lurking here for months now - posting a bit, but mostly lurking. Now, with my trip less than a year away, I want to jump fully into planning. This is one of the friendliest and most helpful forums I've ever participated in. I look forward to picking your brains!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Hello and welcome, welcome to your Dad as well.
March is a great time to walk, the weather could be doing anything but if you're from Canada I suspect you can cope with weather.
There are usually just enough people around for you to know them and absolutely no need to run like the clappers to get a bed. There are albergues that only open at Easter, but not sufficient to make that problem so enjoy!
Buen camino

Thanks for the kind welcome! The more I read about crowded albergues - and bedbugs! - the happier I am that we're going to be walking in the spring instead of the summer. I'm sure that I'll have a million and one questions...I'm glad this forum exists to ask them!

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

I have walked on the Camino Frances twice in April. One time (2008) it was quite warm, and another time (2009) the weather was rather cool and grey. Last spring was about the worst in a hundred years, but it was a real anomaly. As for accommodation, I had no problems in getting a bed anywhere. I've never seen a bed bug, and I don't want to either.

Thanks tony! I plan on packing warm, since I tend to feel the cold. But I certainly won't complain if it's warmer and less snowy than it appeared to be this year!
