Medication "cold chain" on the Camino

Hi all,
I was wondering if any one had had to keep medications which are required to be refrigerated whilst on the Camino.
Are there places to keep medications cold over night. Instant ice packs would work during the day, however, night time may be a problem.

I am making an easy to cool container as I can't seem to see one on the internet.
Maybe those who are insulin dependant diabetics may have some advice.

don't know too much on this subject but posting to bump you up the post list.
most Albergue's have a fridge-just not the safest places to leave things though the owners may help
lots of bars along the way with ice-some supermarkets also sell it or if needs must the odd pack of frozen pea's,
I tend to carry a small thermo picnic bag but thats just to keep the beers, food cold

Hi Ian,
Sinse I get regular drug and alcohol testing through work, mainly because I have access to medications..... The beer cooler sounds like a good idea. I can let my hair down. What is left of it anyway. I will make up some special self chilling packs. Courtesy of the Internet, the formula is on there. This should do me fine. Thanks for the bump. I figured someone with insulin dependence may have had the problem. I only have hypothyroidism, but the medication needs to stay cold.

This unit dropped in the drying pocket at the rear of my pack will work fine.

Hi, I was wondering how you went on the Camino with your medication as I am about to start the Camino in a few weeks. I have a Medical Travel Pack which you freeze at night and it keeps medication between 2 and 8 degrees C for 12 hours. But of course I will need access to a freezer to freeze the pack every night and a refrigerator in which to place my medication. What do you think?

I am on the camino at the moment. No probl with medication as I store them next to my water bladder which seems to stay cool all day. Every drink is very cool water. Never expected this. No problems for me.

Looks like you've gotten some great ideas. Just to add one more: I saw a box on an outdoor windowsill outside the albergue at O'Cebreiro that was marked all over with "Medications: Do not touch! Must stay cold!" I thought it was pretty ingenious -- especially considering we'd had snow that night.
