Can anyone offer any information on the detour to Santo Domingo de Silos? Bus times, and where from etc... (from Burgos I imagine). Would one day be long enough for the detour, to hear the gregorian chants of the monks, spending one night in Santo Domingo?
Thank you Peregrin@s.. Xxxx

The bus arrives in time for vespers, but the morning departure will not leave you enough time to tour the cloisters. So it can be done in one day except weekends, but you won't see everything.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
The bus is a minibus so don't expect Thomas Cook. It is a rural route bringing country folk into town for the day and returning them home just before suppertime. After the highway bit, the driver can and will stop at any and every crossroads, country lane, or large barn to allow passengers to alight or ascend. SDLS does require two days to see it properly, the monestary is amazing. You will then be treated to hear them sing vespaers twice. They are quite famous but are often out and about traveling about but even the second string is amazing. The monestary?

Thank you Scruffy...

If I remember correctly the monestary will accept real pilgrims for three nights only but don't quote me on that one. There are several albergues to stay with and without restaurants - one right across the street from the church, minimal but it works. Another further back up the road away a bit newer but always empty? The bus arrives just in time in order to select a place quickly and then run in for Vespers. There are also several upgrade places to stay.
