Multi-Year Camino - Irish Credencial OK?

We are off on May 26th for the 2nd leg of our Camino journey, and getting very excited. Two years ago we did St. Jean Pied de Port to Pamplona as a 'taster'. This year we will go from Pamplona to Burgos (hopefully). I have two questions:

1. When we eventually arrive in Santiago de Compostella at some point in the future, will we be able to get our compostella, and also distance certificate for walking the whole Camino Frances? Do they recognise multi-year pilgrimages as valid?
2. We have a Credencial from the Irish Society of St. James. I have been tracking the discussion about only 'official' and recognised credencials being accepted, and I understand that this one is. However are there any thoughts on whether we should switch to the official one, just to be safe? It will be several years before we get to SdC.

Hi @Fletchonides. My understanding is that the Camino Society Ireland (formerly the Friends of St James) passports are fine. The 'commercial' ones from e.g. Follow the Camino or other tour operators are no longer acceptable.

Thanks Nuala, that's the passport I have. It cost €10, but it is beautifully done with some Irish prayers. Happy to be supporting the Camino Society Ireland.

I have checked this with Betty, who is the Society's secretary in Ireland and she told me that our Pilgrim Passports are fine and are recognised by the cathedral in Santiago.

It is a lovely Passport Allan IMO, it is a passport sized passport. I used the same one for both the 2012 and 2013 Camino's.

I did my 1st camino, in stages starting in 2009 and finished in 2015 using the credencial issued in Ireland in 2009 and had no problem with getting the compostella. I did have to get a new credencial within the last 5 days in 2015. But handed in both.
Will be using my new Irish one again in 2 weeks when I start my new journey.

And what about the Norwegian credencial?

The Irish credential as Wayfarer said will pose no problems as regards eventually obtaining a compostela. Get a sello in Pamplona as you start this year and repeat this at your starting point annually.
