It seems that Mundicamino (web: Mundicamino.com) provides one of the most comprehensive information available about the Camino. I continue to be impressed with the the most knowledgeable information they provide in one place.

Has anyone used them for self-guided tours? It would be interesting to know how they stack up on that front?

It depends with whom you compare them. If you have a gadget / smartphone with you, and keep it charged, these websites can be really useful. If you are off the grid a paper print guide is hard to beat ;-) Buen Camino, SY

I think maybe Gadfly is referring to their "travel agency" function and not the website itself. I see they will put together your camino for you, have your bag carried, etc. http://mundicamino.com/CaminoTravel.cfm

I don't know anyone who has used them, but I agree that it's a great site.

Well, if it's just the site the OP, then , yes, I have used their information a lot. Also Eroski, which is in Spanish. Both are excellent in their different ways. In the past, I gave printed out the Eroski information to take with me. Gronze is also another useful site.

What I'm suspicious of, is the distances that Mundicamino gives for the stages. They differ a lot form other sources. I use Mundicamino a lot but only for inspiration, reading & dreaming about Caminos in advance before I'm setting out. But when I go, I print out the guide from the Eroski website, which is more detailed and has better maps. Problem is that all the Caminos are not at the Erioski website, at least not to print...

We used mundocamino extensively both for our planning of the Camino and during. Didn't use or have a brierly book and was very happy.
We didn't use any travel agency function that someone else referred to but used contact information or names of places given there to book many of our accommodations.
It was usually all we needed.

I have to agree that Mundicamino frequently underestimates the distances. This isn't as much of a problem on caminos like the Frances where there are accommodations and services every few kms, but it can be a bit of a challenge on routes like the Catalan, Levante, etc. Still, I very much like that, unlike the Eroski site, Mundicamino gives information about non-albergue lodging. I have downloaded the Eroski site on my phone (free) and used it a lot last summer on the Catalan and Aragones. When I walked the Vdlp from Sevilla, it was the only thing I needed, great walking instructions, good descriptions and additional cultural information.
