Are there any Canadians in or near Sarria tomorrow? I've been on the camino for over a month and very low on cash. My cards have not been letting me do a cash advance (which I could pay off right away).....

I'm looking for canadians because I could do an etransfer to you on the spot. I have money back home, so we would be able to even out immediately, so no risk to you. The cash card I brought wont let me reload from the bank account because of some issues, and neither credit card has worked at atms for cash advances.

If anyone from somewhere else is going to be in sarria and has a diff way they think I could switch with them I'm all ears too.

Please no judgement forthis....I had 3 methods that all have issues before coming to this spot, and didnt bring the actual debit card because too mich liability if I were to lose that over a credit card.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
@jgiesbrecht, are you familiar with the Western Union system? There is a Western Union option at Correos y Telegrafos in Sarria and they are open tomorrow morning. Best of luck. (And I am pretty confident that you are indeed from Canada and have indeed walked from SJPP this month ... pity that you didn't post more on this forum since then ...)

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Yes, if nothing else works, do consider the Western Union at the Correos office. If you're not familiar with it, someone from home can send you money; they need to send it to your passport name and number, and you'll need to bring your passport to receive the money. It can take at least 6 hours to process, which means you might need to hang around town for a while.

Hope something works out for you! Buen Camino and maybe we'll see you next week in SdC once you arrive!

I just looked at your blog. Lovely photos! Hmm...I just looked up the Correos offices in Sarria and Samos and they're both closed on Saturdays! Ack! Not sure how long you can hold out but with the weekend coming up Western Union may not be the best option. If I get some more definitive information on those Correos office hours I'll let you know...

Edit: If you do a search for Correos offices at their website https://www.correos.es/ss/Satellite...iza_busca_encuentra/detalle_app-sidioma=en_GB you can click on the search results on the map and see the "horario" (opening hours).

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

Thanks for looking into it

When using Western Union through Correos, it is really important to use exactly the name as written in the passport; e.g., James Robert Catface, rather than James Catface, or Jimmy Catface, or Jim Bob Catface. I have experienced them refusing a transfer as my middle name was missing (straightened out with a call to Visa, but that's another story).

I had the same issue - my husband sent me money via Western Union and didn't include my middle name, which is on my passport.
He called Western Union and changed it, and I was able to get the money. I was in Madrid at the time where there are quite a few Western Union agents - not just at Correos.

U can sign up for a card called revolut. Its like Europe's version of PayPal if you will. But you link it to your bank account and can use it virtually on your smart phone

Hope someone can help you with this. My method may help others in future. I use a debit card and set up a direct transfer into it of a small amount every week from my main bank account. That way if I do lose it, I won't have lost much money. I also keep a spare debit card that a family member can load from home if necessary.

Sometimes they can email you the code if phone not available.

It works like every other ATM card. If you have it virtually all you have to do is go to an ATM that accepts virtual make sure that NFC is turned on, on your phone, and it will work like a regular ATM card. Most banks will have this technology
