Hi.

My travel app on the VDLP just came out on iTunes at:
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/via-de-l ... 71301?mt=8

The app currently works on iPhones, iTouches and iPads, although in a few months it should be available for Droids as well. It's especially useful for the Camino because you don't have to carry around a separate book -- it's all on your phone.

The app's main focus is on the route so people know what to expect each leg. I've also noted all tricky spots through text, photos and maps. Maps are scrollable offline, plus I've added in some photo maps to help, too. And, of course, the text talks about how to get from A to B. There's also information on the cities/towns, points of interest, restaurants, lodging outside of the albergues and so on. And lots of photos.

NOTE: Right now the app covers Sevilla to Merida, but I will continue to go back to walk the rest and add to it so it will be complete within a year. I head out March 13 to walk Merida-Salamanca, and will have an update shortly afterward to fold this section into the app. The app is $2.99 and all updates are free forever.

Enjoy!
Melanie

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Thank you, Melanie!!
It looks great. I will buy it as soon as someone comes home to help me do it (TOTAL Techno-Imbecile).
I leave Sevilla on April 25, so maybe the next section will be ready before I get to Merida?

It looks great - even for a techno retard like me! I have passed it on to friends who will be walking the VdlP in May.

Does anyone know if there are similar apps for other routes on the Net?

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
What an excellent idea. An alternative to heavy guide books adding to the weight of a backpack. I just went and weighed my Cicerone Vdlp guidebook and it's 350 grams which is more than my waterproof coat! I walked from Sevilla to Canaveral last Autumn and my 13-14kg pack (with food and water) probably contributed to an ankle injury which cut short the trip. Next time I'll pay much more attention to reducing my pack weight and this app will certainly help.

I've just checked the weather forecast for Sevilla and it's rising to 20 C (68 F) in the next few days - lucky you!

Buen Camino.
