The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

cycled from Pamplona Sep 2015;Frances, walked from St Jean May/June 2017. Plans to walk Porto 2020
One I can totally recommend is Casa Susi in Trabadelo. Newly opened in 2017. Stayed there myself. This is privately owned by an Australian woman who did much of the renovation herself. It has 12 single beds and two bathrooms and a sunny courtyard. An evening meal is offered (at cost). Also can recommend the Complexo Xacobeo - they also operate a restaurant/bar a couple of doors down. I stayed here in 2015 and again last year. Buen Camino.

Casa Barbadelo, Sarria
Albergue Ultreia, Arzua
Both fabulous and if the weather is ok when you arrive in Sarria Casa Barbadelo has a swimming pool.

I've stayed at Casa Barbadelo twice, it's like a resort! But it's not in Sarria - it's about 4.5 km past Sarria.

I agree, although the address said Sarria it is some km past it, but right on the Camino and definitely worth the extra hike.

I just came back after doing the stretch from Leon to Santiago for the 3rd time- 2014, 2017 and 2018. Huge increase in numbers of private albergues (and quality improvement) since 2014. I stayed in many of the recommended albergues in this Forum's Pdf of "favorite albergue list". I could recommend many but at the top of the list: El Serbal y La Luna in Pieros.Camino (76).JPGCamino (73).JPG

For me, this albergue embodies the spirit of the Camino I carry in my soul. Extremely welcoming with hospitaleros and the owner who went way above and beyond to make you feel at home, vegetarian dinner, upstairs meditation-type room overlooking the mountain sunsets, outdoor terrace looking towards the sunrise,Camino (75).JPG
fireplace near dining room...and interestingly, no WiFi which promoted conversation! The only drawback could be only one full bathroom each for male and female. I booked ahead from my previous albergue in Molinesca, another great one, Albergue de Compostela. However we were only 10 people which is the maximum. It was just great and suited me wonderfully. Hope this is helpful!
