Not for Me, Perhaps Some Will Like

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Not sure that it would work for me as well as I am a big guy and I don't think I would get the coverage I need. I do use an umbrella though because I sweat profoundly in a poncho and the small trek umbrella allows my body to breathe. It's a good idea and I'm sure there are some people that this works for them!!! Ed

I don't like ponchos Altus or others, most rain gear simply steams up my glasses and I can't see anything with or without my specs. I do take an Australian made bush-hat type of head gear - good in the rain good in the sun and no worries about ot seeing anything.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

I have taken to hats of late..
Use my Stetson locally which is brilliant in rainy weather, but too hot on the Camino after April May.
Now invested in straw like mid brimmed hat, brilliant in sun.
Reminds me, must see a dermalogist to get a possible melanoma checked, the risk is there...

I'm from the Pacific Northwest

I come from the south west Pacific (also known as way down under)

So @John Crawford Howell , I assume Pacific Northwest means you come from either Russia or China.

Or has the world turned upside down while I was asleep.

But I do know what you mean about wind.

Spoof, surely? Looks like something from a baby's pram/pushchair/stroller. Not to be used in a headwind!

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
we need to meet at the inn just above the ferry landing in Pictin and have a brew or two in front of the fireplace

Very doable by me. I'm off in two weeks to start walking from Canterbury to Reims, And to return next year (or so) to vomplete to Rome.

Can do Tuesday 13th or Wednesday, 14th August, depending on the timetables giving enough space

cheers

I wish it could be done, Alwyn. When I was living in Singapore, it would have been easy. Alas, I am in the San Juan Islands these days, but with fond memories of my business travels to your fair corner of our small planet. I'm off to Germany next week, but not for hiking. Best wishes to you on your upcoming trek to Reims.

Is there a list of albergues that also have private rooms on the Camino Frances? Gracias.
Can anyone give me (newbie!) some guidance on planning my stages after Roncesvalles? I currently have lodging booked Zubiri, Pamplona and then Puente la Reine, and on from there. I would prefer...
Big stupid question: what if, in the middle of a stage, I realize I can't really walk anymore? For whatever reason, fatigue, pain, etc. How others have treated this? Are there buses usually...
