Numbers In July

Time of past OR future Camino
Sarria-SC ('08) C.Frances ('11/'12) C.Norte ('13/'17) C.Portugues & Kerry C.('18)
Evening from a rainy Ireland!!

It is that time of the year again when my thoughts turn to the Camino.

Three years ago, I walked from Irun To St. Vincent. It was quite strenuous but it was absolutely beautiful - lovely fellow pilgrims as well - still in contact with two.

Then last year I flew to Santander with the intention of walking onwards, but I got sick and had to come home.

This year I intend to walk for two weeks. However it seems that from Llanes that there are far fewer pilgrims. I would not like to walk for a day and not meet anyone- if for nothing else but safety.

Does anyone know what numbers are like in early July?
In addition- are there really far fewer pilgrims from Llanes onwards, than from Irun to Santander?

Thanks in advance!

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Thanks Peter,

Looks like around 400 started in Irun and about 4000 completed the northern camino in July 2016.

It's still difficult to gauge how busy it is from Santander onwards, but hopefully it won't be too quiet!

Hi, Determined lass, I think you should definitely not worry about the Norte being too quiet. In fact, based on the numbers (I just posted about a tripling of the Norte pilgrims in the last ten years), I would worry more about the opposite!
